Parseh is in its alpha releases: it works, and it is still changing.

Parseh also works on phones and tablets through its web apps.

Exercises & Markdown Studio

Spaced repetition

Spaced repetition spreads revision over time, with intervals adjusted to how well you remember each item. Parseh applies it to exercises as well as flashcards, for language study but also supporting subjects such as mathematics and chemistry thanks to LaTeX integration.

Exercise decks

Decks can include flashcards, gap-filling, matching, multiple-choice questions and sentence-building. Images, recordings and LaTeX let you work with pronunciation, diagrams and mathematical notation within an exercise.

Markdown Studio

Markdown Studio combines written explanations with exercises in a single document. It can be used for personal notes, lessons or worksheets; exercises from a document can be collected into decks for revision.

The documents are stored as Markdown files on your computer and can be printed as PDFs or shared as web pages with working exercises.

Books & videos

Language learning

Parseh is designed for reading and listening in the language you are learning. Its glosses explain words and expressions as they are used in a passage, helping you follow material that would otherwise be too difficult. For sources of comprehensible input, see the CI wiki.

Books

Ilya Frank’s Reading Method alternates annotated passages with the original text, allowing a second reading without the translation. Parseh’s book reader also offers glosses on demand, as in the excerpt below, and synchronised narration for books with a recording.

Hover over a phrase, or tap it on a touchscreen, to see its gloss.

Videos

A synchronised, annotated transcript lets you study speech at your own pace and replay difficult passages. This works with YouTube videos and local films. You can keep notes beside the source and save vocabulary from books or videos to a review deck.
