# Existing licenses and third-party material

The root `LICENSE` describes the website code grant. The following material
is excluded from that MIT grant and from any claim of exclusive ownership.
The website sharing policy grants only rights held by Bruno Ursino; it does
not replace these terms, including for material visible in screenshots.

## Parseh exports

`assets/exercise-demo.html`, `examples/english-basics/deck.html` and
`examples/maths-and-chemistry/deck.html` contain embedded Parseh CSS and
JavaScript explicitly marked `GPL-3.0-or-later`. These code components remain
under those terms; see [GNU GPL version 3](LICENSES/GPL-3.0.txt).
Do not treat these mixed-content exports as wholly MIT-licensed or wholly
proprietary. Separately authored exercise text and third-party assets retain
their own terms.

The application source is [Parseh](https://github.com/parseh-io/Parseh).
The export scripts and their input exercises are in `examples/sources/`;
README.md describes regeneration. This upstream link identifies provenance,
not a substitute for any corresponding-source obligations when distributing
GPL-covered code.

## Fonts

- `assets/fonts/NotoNastaliqUrdu.woff2`: Noto Nastaliq Urdu, copyright 2014

- `assets/fonts/Vazirmatn.woff2`: Vazirmatn, copyright 2015 The Vazirmatn
Project Authors; SIL Open Font License 1.1.

[GUST Font License](assets/fonts/GUST-FONT-LICENSE.txt) applies to these
TeX Gyre fonts; it refers to the LaTeX Project Public License.

## ARASAAC pictograms

`examples/sources/images/arasaac-*.png` and their embedded copies in the
English example are pictograms created by Sergio Palao for
[ARASAAC](https://arasaac.org), owned by the Government of Aragón and
provided under [CC BY-NC-SA 4.0](https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/),
as attributed on the existing example pages. Preserve attribution and comply
with the noncommercial and share-alike conditions where applicable.
Our permission for commercial coverage does not grant additional rights in
these pictograms.

## MathJax

`examples/maths-and-chemistry/deck.html` embeds MathJax, distributed under
[Apache License 2.0](LICENSES/Apache-2.0.txt). Existing embedded notices remain
in place. Upstream: [MathJax](https://github.com/mathjax/MathJax).

## Literary excerpt and annotations

The homepage quotes the opening two sentences of *The Blind Owl* (*Boof-e-koor*)
by Sadeq Hedayat. The excerpt, transliterations and glosses were taken from
the generated Parseh reader described in README.md. No ownership of Hedayat's
text is claimed. This notice does not determine its copyright status in each
jurisdiction or grant rights in third-party text, translations or annotations.
Check the relevant rights before reproducing these materials separately or
including them in promotional material.

## Scope

The Parseh application and the guide are separate projects. Their licenses
are not changed by this website's policy. Original website content and the
Parseh icons are addressed by [the content and brand policy](licensing/index.html),
only to the extent the named copyright holder owns the relevant rights.
